WINE TIPS

When it comes to Italian white wines, try exploring the beauties from the lesser-known northern regions of Friuli and Alto Adige. Their wines tend to be incredibly food-friendly and elegant, and can be wonderfully complex. Seek out Tocai, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Grigio.

This summer, drink dry rosé wines. They are generally lower in alcohol and have a range of flavors that pair up beautifully with summer preparations. A rosés fresh fruit and acid balance the plump, rich meat of shrimp perfectly. Always be sure to get the most recent vintage possible.

Allocate your wine funds carefully. 1996, 1997 and 1998 were all very good to great vintages for Barolo and Barbaresco, and these wines are becoming more popular and expensive every year. They are a good investment for the future, as they will mature beautifully.

If you find yourself in Florence, eat at the Cibreo Bar just across the street from Cibreo Restaurant. The prices on the menu are much less expensive, and it is gorgeous inside. They've got a great wine list and a charming staff.

You will find an updated wine menu at our menu section.
